Healthcare Mayhem

This is just a brief overview of the health care system disaster. This is not everyone’s opinion, but I want to try to be as balanced and fair as possible. I also realize my data may be inaccurate at this time due to the massive changes and multiple proposed policies before this country. Health care is a “hot button” for the moment which will take much time to reach a workable solution.

The health care system we endorsed for years is far from perfect. Everyone agrees on the fact that it needs to be re-vamped. The intent I had was to read the already proposed documents and then break them down a bit. I have changed my mind, since seeing the latest information, for now. The health care documents already are immense at 1000+ pages. There are 4 primary versions in circulation of proposed healthcare bills; The Senate Bill, The Bacus Bill, The House Bill, and Obama’s Bill. The new proposals want to mandate that every citizen obtain health insurance. Whoever does not obtain health insurance will be penalized each year up to $3,800.00 per household, business employers will be penalized approximately $790.00+/- per un-insured employee. Whether this information has been updated or not, I have not heard or read yet.

Now, the latest news, they are proposing an additional 254 ammendments to the proposed healthcare plans. This, no doubt with the beaurocratic rhetoric and legal “gobblety gook,” may have the document totals at around 4000+ pages. I must note that nowhere in the Constitution does it grant the Government the authority to mandate that an individual citizen MUST obtain healthcare insurance. I can also see the other side of the coin where people do not approve having to spend their own money on un-insureds. I do believe that everyone should be able to have health insurance. At this point, it would be best for the Government to scrap the current write-ups and start from scratch, touching on the main problems with the current healthcare system. I hope to be able, at a later time, to address the healthcare dilema more in depth.

One thing is certain, nobody agrees on the proposals. The Government needs to address the serious problems in the healthcare system; keep what works and toss what does not work. I want to see where this healthcare mayhem is all going before commenting further on this topic.

Corruption is running rampant everywhere we turn. The Government is extremely overloaded with corruption and this is NOT acceptable. If corruption in the mainstream was as rampant as it is in the Government, it would not be tolerated. Proof positive on this claim is the over crowding of our prisons and jails. Why then are we allowing this to continue at the Government levels? It has been proven repeatedly that the more money and power one holds the less the penalty, usually it allows for a slap on the wrist and nothing more.

If we look at just a few instances, such as tax fraud, Wall Street, the banking system, ACORN, SEIU, and etc, it is appalling. The people who are in powerful people’s pockets can get away with corruption, while the average citizen or the “ex-communicated” is land-basted. I could write a volume of encyclopedias if I took the time, but who would read it? Again, it is the complacency of the people who have allowed this to go unchecked. Those few voices who have stood up have been discredited, ignored, placed under a “witch hunt,” or chastised; swept away and destroyed. Is it any wonder that the people have lost faith in the system?

The one thing that seems to stand out, in my mind, is that most people are sedentary until it effects them personally. Usually, by the time the full blast of corruption slams people, it is already too late. By the time it is realized, there is so much muck to wade through that we cannot figure out exactly where to begin or how to begin. Looming ahead in our future, if we do nothing to “clean house,” is devastation and disaster. The voices, who try in vain to wake others up, end up being consumed by the darkness before the light shines through.

Co-operation is sorely lacking as well. I see this on all levels. Many people speak out and agree something needs to be accomplished, but when it comes down to “put your money where your mouth is,” only one, or a very few, stand holding the bag. Without co-operation and teamwork, things will not get better. We ALL need to write our Senators and Congressmen, get on the horn and let them know we are here and we are not pleased. If people think they have ideas for better solutions, pass them on. Do not just stand and criticize and name call. Offer suggestions and solutions if you have a problem with what is currently in place. Maybe the idea you have has not been brought to the table. The politicians need to be accepting and not look down on the people as if the people are not intelligent enough to know things. Elected officials do not have all the answers either. Being HUMBLE is appropriate behavior. Let the people know their opinion is valued.

A huge portion of the problems in today’s society is the utter lack of morals and values. The Government is leading by example, and it shows. Everything done filters down the chain and affects many. It affects people you would not even think about or possibly know. Everything a person does has a consequence. Whether it is good or bad depends on what the person has done. Take the time to think things through before acting on said things.

History continues to repeat itself. The reason for repetition is that people have not learned from the mistakes made. Most of us know the old saying, “Beating a dead horse.” Beating a dead horse will not change things, but it will wear the person out and the horse will still be dead. Why then won’t the Government and the people wake up and try something new? For the politicians and people who HAVE been trying to make a difference, I commend you for your efforts and humbly ask you to not give up or give in.

Gitmo Crisis

I would like to discuss the GITMO crisis which is creating a bit of turmoil. Before I get too far into this discussion, I would like to give some information about GITMO. I wonder how many of us know exactly what GITMO is.

1“Gitmo,” or Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, Is the location of detainees accused of international terrorism. Gitmo is run by the Joint Task Force Guantanamo of the United States Government since 2002 in the naval base there. Gitmos’ location is on the shore of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Since there has been many conspiracy type theories surrounding Gitmo, including torture, Obama’s regime is looking to close Gitmo and detain the captives here in the United States and other countries; some of them to be released. There are three camps on the base, Camp Delta (includes Camp Echo), Camp Iguana, and Camp X-Ray. Camp X-Ray is closed.

After Obama’s regime outed the CIA and FBI agents (primarily the CIA), giving away the locations and personal information of not only these agents but their families as well to these detainees, I feel that there will definitely be trouble. This storm was brewing over accusations of “water boarding” being used as one of the forms of gaining information, which many felt was abusive and unnecessary torture. One of the locations being looked at for releasing these accused terrorists is New York. Now the latest is that the released detainees are refusing to appear in court. Our Government should not close any part of Gitmo and should consider re-opening the facilities which have already been closed. Since these detainees refuse to appear in court, they should be re-detained and tried in a military tribunal, where they should have been tried in the first place.

If we all look back to September 11, 2001, we’ll remember that New York was one of the locations terrorists attacked. I cannot help but stop and ponder the intelligence of this Administration. Another bone of contention, is that people are screaming for citizens’ rights for these detainees. People feel the detainees are entitled to civil trials and rights of the United States citizens. This is not our law. Detainees/POW’s are to be tried in a military court/tribunal.

Prisoners of War (POW’s), or detainees accused of a war crime, are not granted the rights of the citizens according to the law of the land. They are not granted the rights of Mirandizing. What they are entitled to is a military Tribunal. Most of these detainees are not even citizens of our country, therefore are not granted any United States privilages and rights. This may seem repetitive, but it is necessary to make this point clear. I’ve been told one cannot stress this point enough.

Gadsden Flag Attack

This was an older posting, from this year, of mine that I recently came across and wanted to add it in this blog.

A man was attacked physically and racially for standing up for what he believed in. His freedom of speech was being squelched and his personal safety was violated. The sad part is that, although racially motivated, his own race attacked him. According to Ed Morrisey, as posted on Hot Air (*see below linked article),

“…one of the SEIU’s thugs claimed, “He attacked America!” The same goon made a threatening motion to the vocal witness,
but perhaps thought better of it when he saw the  camera.”-Ed Morrisey, posted on Hot Air.

This incident is just one of many beginning to take place and, if the Government and the people do not wake up, will only continue to escalate. What will it take? If these “goons,” as well as others, would crack open books instead of trying to be gangsta wannabe’s or chasing what’s in their pants, maybe they might learn a thing or two about history. I have included a link on the history of the Gadsden Flag below.

In the meantime, in case you choose not to review the posted artlicle links, I will give you a small history lesson on this AMERICAN flag. The flags’ design includes a coiled snake ready for attack with the words “Don’t Tread On Me” inscribed below the snake. The designer and creator of this flag is an AMERICAN General and Statesman by the name of Christopher Gadsden. The United States Navy used this symbol back in 1775. This was also the motto for the early United States Marines, as the first United States Navy and the Early United States Marines were deployed together on their first mission to intercept Brittish ships bringing supplies to their troops.

The symbol was discussed as far back as Benjamin Franklin in 1751. *Benjamin Franklin made a joke about “thanking the Brittish for sending convicted criminals to America by sending rattlesnakes back to England.” The snake was a symbol of the colonies. As their plight against Brittan grew, the use of this Gadsden flag was more frequent. The Gadsden flag became the symbol for the struggle for the freedom of Americans. We now, in this reign of Obama, are facing the same situation as our forefathers under a different reign.

The Gadsden Flag, which the assaulted gentleman had been handing out at the town hall meeting, is in fact an AMERICAN icon and denotes an extremely powerful statement. I have included a link to another article below. As for where the “attack on America” has happened, My thought is Obama’s “goons” are guilty of this treasonist act. The unions are now mobilized to “Hit back twice as hard” against anyone who opposes Obama. Where will it stop? I commend the gentleman and all who stand for what they believe in.

Sensitive Topics: False Rape Allegations

When People Lie About Rape

I feel the need to discuss this topic. Yes, it is an sensitive subject, but goes along with corruption in our society. There seems to be a rising number of false claims to being raped. The Duke Lacrosse team in North Carolina made headlines and news and destroyed many young lives, as well as all the families involved on both sides of the fence, due to false accusations of rape. Just because these cases are not currently in the media, do not even think for a moment that it does not still have impact in each of their lives.

Now the latest case, Hofstra University includes five young men and a female accuser, at a party in a bathroom, that was caught on cell phone recording. The girl later recanted her claims after the damage was done. The recording proves the claims were false and the intercourse was consensual. Unfortunately, five males’ lives have now been destroyed. The girl was afraid of looking bad and was afraid of her boyfriend finding out. Again, lack of morals and ethics on all parts. Could the guys be jerks? It is a possibility; nobody is perfect. What they did not deserve, was to be falsely accused.

This behavior also is provoked online as well as in real life. I see this type of behavior all the time now online with girls or guys who are between the ages of 11 years old and up. They use “I was raped” as a platform to gain males’ attention and then ask them for sex or flirt with them. People will also make jokes telling consensual partners that the person raped them. The common banter that gets under my skin so bad is, “YOU RAPED ME hahaha.” The response following,”You know you loved it.”  What are these people thinking? What has happened to these people? What did their parents teach them? Where were/are their parents? Societal desensitization is also partly to blame in my opinion.

My beef with these incidents, and others which are not reported on and do also happen in male accusing female, is the lack of morals and ethics and the damage. When people make false claims, they are essentially making true rape victims a joke. It is already a horrid ordeal for the true victims and has now become more difficult for anyone truely suffering from rape. False accusations also destroy lives because now each and every one of these people are listed in sex offender sites and/or have a stigma that follows them throughout the rest of their lives.

I do honestly believe that anyone caught lying about being raped should be charged in a court of law. In this latest case, the female should be charged on five counts, being there were five males involved and poor lack of judgment on her part. The guys also used poor lack of judgment in this matter. Fantasies are best left to the mind.

What I do think is common sense, is that when a person, whether male or female, says “no,” they mean no. Now If a person is parading around naked in front of people, or dressed provocatively, it stands to reason that people will have the wrong idea and that person ought to have brain one in their head to realize that they are a target for attack and rape. This does not in any way condone attack and rape. If they consentually agree to intercourse, then guess what…NOT RAPE. Just because a person regrets having intercourse with someone, or is afraid of being caught with a person, is not a reason to cry rape.

My closing thoughts on this matter are to use common sense and have good morals and values. Think before you act. Gain your popularity in a decent way and use good judgment.

Wednesday’s Soup of the Week

Happy Wednesday to everyone. I figured it would make things a bit interesting if we added a special “middle of the week” entry to our blog. This section of our blog will be for entertainment and a break in between the articles posted. All work and no play can make people very unhappy. We need to address the massive problems in this nation whether we want to or not. Injecting something “off the beaten path” is of no harm and allows for a bit of a cushion.

Everyone loves to eat. We need to breathe, drink, and eat to survive. Wednesday’s Soup of the Day would like to share some delicious recipes with you. Each week, we will share one recipe along with some random entertainment. Without further ado…

Recipe of the week:

Mom-Mom Stover’s Tea Sandwiches (roast beef salad sandwiches)

roast beef- cooked and seasoned 4-5 lbs.   celery- 2-3 stalks diced
onion- 2 medium sized diced                     16oz whipped salad dressing
1-2 loafs bread                                          salt and pepper (optional-season to taste)

Cook the roast beef and grind it in a food processor. Mix ingredients together in a large

bowl(except for the bread). Make sandwiches and then cut them into triangle quarters.

If you want to fancy them up, grab those toothpicks with the fancy tops; multi-colord

foil fireworks or umbrellas or make your own style. You can also choose to make whole

sandwiches or cut them in half. These make awesome party sandwiches and will disappear

fast. A great and fun way to spend time with your family and friends.

Today’s topic:

Sharing time with family. Too many folks are too busy to just sit down and spend time together as a family. Some people’s schedules just won’t allow for it, or the kids are off and running, and still others are engrossed in their computers, cell phones, and etc. Families are only as strong as the glue that holds them together. With all the stresses and negativity in the world, it is near impossible to be able to have that special time shared with your family. Just take one night per week and set aside even just an hour of quality family time. The more time you all can spend together the better.

There is no excuse worthy enough to pass up on spending time together. This means no cell phones, no computers, no video gaming, no TV (unless you’ve all chosen to watch a movie together), eliminate as many inturruptions as possible, and show your family they are worthy of each other’s attention and love. Remember though, that everyone’s time is precious to them. Get to know each other more by just having talks, or playing games or whatever things you would like to do as a family. Make sure that you try to tailor the activities to the age group of your family.  This is how great memories and closeness are built.

I could go on and on, but really…rambling is one of my quirks.

Truth, Liberty, and Justice; the American Way

The day is Saturday, September 12, 2009.

Masses converged on Capital Hill in Washington, D.C. They came from all walks of life. Everyone hoping America’s voice would be heard. They arrived peacefully, hand-made signs in their possession. They had a purpose on this day which is still rising. Fox News covered this event and the masses were heard. As to the exact numbers of concerned Americans present, the jury is still out and it is not important. The fact that these brave souls stood up is important. America is waking from her slumber. Far too long have we, the American citizens, turned a blind eye hoping things would fix themselves or just go away. It’s like the old idiom of “Nobody sees the pink elephant in the middle of the room.”

Many would have us, the American populous; believe that we have no idea why we were marching in protest this day. This is far from true and a part of the problem in this country. Do not underestimate the intelligence of the citizens of this nation. People DID do their research and DID read proposed plans and changes. The people know. They arrived for a myriad of reasons which the government better listen to. Many will say race was an issue. Many will say that it is a Republican/Democratic/ Left wing/Right wing issue. They are Wrong! It is about the PEOPLE asking questions and demanding answers from the GOVERNMENT. Many will say people are afraid of change so they will erect stumbling blocks to deter change. Still others will name call and claim the people are merely looking for conflict and violence as well as other ways to explain away events. This is far from true. We the People are not taking answers or statements at face value any more. I have always told people, “Never take things at face value. Question and investigate EVERYTHING.”

One of the beauties of this country is the freedom of speech and thought. Everyone is entitled to their own and the ability to voice those opinions and thoughts. Will everyone love them or agree with them? The answer is absolutely not. One thing everyone does agree on is the system is broken and corrupt. Everyone also agrees that some solution must ultimately be found. The conflict is in HOW the final solutions are enacted. The conflict is not that there are problems or that solutions need to be enacted to correct these problems, but the means of said solutions ARE in conflict. What is even worse, is the government, who live in their Ivory towers and refuse to listen to the people whom the government WORKS FOR.

Far too long have the people been too complacent to “make waves” by speaking out. This sedentary behavior has CAUSED the current problems and corruption. The people thought it would be best if the government took care of the people’s responsibilities instead of the people taking care of their own responsibilities. The government saw fit to step up to the plate making promises they did not intend to keep to appease the few loud voices. The rhetoric and propaganda took hold in the people who believed, and clung to, every word as a baby cleaves to it’s mother’s bossom. Is it any wonder the country is in the state it is in? Greed and corruption quickly replaced, in secret, the promises made which were to “make life safer and better” for the people who, according to the government, “need to be protected from themselves.” Wake up people! This is not acceptable!

One thing to note about the citizens of these United States of America, is that we are slow to anger, but once we are awakened, we will take care of matters. This time we awaken to clean house in our government and to regain what our forefathers fought to instill for future generations. Today the government would see to it that anyone who speaks out is squelched and brushed under the rug; forgotten. We cannot allow this to happen again. If we continue to sit idly by and watch instead of act, then all that has been done will be for naught. Just because you stand up for one huge event, does not mean you are finished. As quickly as a flame is lit, it can be extinguished just as fast. There are many levels in government you can work on. Just because you may deal with a smaller segment of government, does not mean you are not making a difference. Every little bit counts and is just as important a task. Remember, this is a government of the people, by the people, for the people. For those of you who forget our Constitution, it begins with “We the People…” not “We the Government.”

Does any one person have all the answers? The answer is no. This is why many need to hear and decide. Here is the idea- Keep what works and discard what does not work. Adding more beauracracy to an already failing system is not the answer. One possible solution is to cut the government body in half and ENFORCE WHAT IS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS. If change is needed to bring the laws to current society, then re-write existing laws- Do not add more useless laws that will go un-enforced. Preventative care is also a huge monetary saver. There are so many improvements that can be made and spoken of (I will not touch on them in this article or whoever is reading would never get finished reading and they would fall asleep). The less clutter in your house, the better you can watch it, care for it, devote the attention needed, and keep it under control.

People are afraid to step on toes, but sometimes, in order to gain the attention needed, you have to step on the giants’ toes. Do not be afraid of questioning things or educating yourself. Do your research, educate yourself, and become more in tune to happenings around you. Look at it this way, would you allow someone you do not know to sign your legal documents or your checkbook without questioning why? Do you really instill that much trust and faith in a person you do not know in your personal belongings? We know this answer to be a huge no. Then why would you take the government at their word, just because they are the government? If you do not care about how you are steered, then maybe you would just go along with it. Who knows if they signed you up to take responsibility for a crime?

If you do not take responsibility for what you learn and what consequences could occur, then you cannot put a stop to it before you are trapped. Now, many reading this may not read it accurately so I am going to make sure this is clear. I merely used that scenario as an EXAMPLE; I am not saying the government has done this literally, yet. When I try to explain my points of view, I try to use common frame of referencing to help others understand things better. I feel it puts things into perspective. The first place to start is to take a look in the mirror. Too many people keep passing the buck; playing the blame game. As long as people can continue to delude themselves into believing that it is not individual responsibility, everything continues as is. I look at myself every day in that mirror and ask myself, “What have I been doing? How can I be changing things for the better? Do I have any possible ideas for solutions? Who can I tell?” The answer is clear. Stand up for your values and beliefs. Be honest in your convictions. Change begins with you.

What is appalling to me is how the “House of Nancy Pelosi” is planning on sanctioning, insulting and humiliating, Joe Wilson, who bravely called out The Presidents’ mis-statement of facts during the Presidential address to a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Pelosi and the Democrats are not satisfied after Joe Wilson took the initiative to apologize to the public and President Obama, numerous times, for his outburst hollering out “YOU LIE!”  The drunken power hungry morons decided that was not good enough and they want to put him on his knees. I say that Pelosi needs to wake up and smell the coffee; she is not God, nor is anyone else in that floor. Joe Wilson was doing his job and I commend him for standing up for injustice. Sure he stated that he wishes he could have worded it differently, but as he said “There was not enough time to do so.” Pelosi should watch other government’s behavior. This was nothing in the scheme of things. At least there were no fists flying or chairs and microphones being hurled in their direction. What will be next Pelosi? Caning people who you do not agree with? Last I saw, we are STILL America.

To the people who truly believe that We The People have no clue why we showed up to the march on Capital Hill, and other locals the same day for common goals, We do know why we were there. The “straw that broke the camels’ back” was the healthcare issue. The official count by the park police was 1.2 million, with many others guestimating around 150,000-200,000 being turned away. There were also those who could not attend who desired to attend. The government better wake up because We The People are not going away. You cannot brush us under the rug and make things disappear or be forgotten. We respect the office of the government, but we do not agree with what that office is being used to achieve. People keep throwing race in which is becoming very annoying. RACE IS NOT AN ISSUE HERE. Stop trying to throw distractions from the true issues at hand.

There will always be opposition no matter what is laid out on the table. This is to be expected. If a central idea can be reached, then things may run a bit smoother. As I stated earlier, due to differing opinions, there will be those who are not content. We cannot please everyone. Common sense is paramount in all cases. Our government representatives should be willing to hear their constituents and carry the words of their constituents to the Congress and Senate. This is their job. They were not hired by the people to live secluded in their Ivory towers, away from the plights of the people whom they work for. The people need to rise up and become non-complacent in their future- the future of these United States of America.

Now is the question at hand; What will you do? Will you, the American citizens, stand up and fight for our country? Will you allow the government to continue taking over? Will you watch America as she begins to crumble from beneath your feet? The time is NOW to stand or everything we are becomes nothing but a fading memory; an echo in history and time. Show everyone who we are and what we are made of now. Do not wait until it is too late thinking others will take care of matters. If you do not stand up, nobody will.

In closing, I would like to commend the brave souls who took the stand. This not only includes the people who got on cameras and attended tea parties, but the small voices as well. I also want to commend the brave souls who serve and protect us on a daily basis. Uncovering the corruption takes a load of bravery and perseverance. Every accomplishment, no matter how small, is significant and just as important as anything else. We the People will shape the future of this Nation. Truth, Liberty, Justice; the American Way. God Bless America. May her spirit fly high and her colors never fade.

Welcome to Country Patriots

Welcome to the Country Patriots.
I am Jennifer, an independent conservative, who believes in a “common sense” style of government. I am a vocal person, who believes in investigating and questioning everything; nothing taken at face value. I live in Southern rural America and have lived up north as well. I am community oriented and have degrees in Science and Administration of Justice. I have many qualifications, but to be fair to everyone else in the group, I will give them room to speak.

I am Tom, retired Navy Chief, devout patriot, and I believe in our Constitution.

I am Arlene, a life-long registered Democrat.  I was on the Board of Directors of Americans for Democratic Action in Philadelphia , PA.   I founded a local wing of ADA , called the New Democratic Coalition, and was elected Chairwoman of that organization.  We worked to elect Republicans when our local Democrats were very corrupt.  I was part of a movement that created Federal Programs such as Educational Opportunity Grants, so that other people would not have to go out to work at 13, and not be able to go to college.  At age 45, I completed a degree in Business Administration. I worked for more than 25 years before being able to get my B.S. I am currently working on obtaining my Master’s Degree in Public Health Administration.

I am Dave. Many call me a “rebel-rouser.” If people say something can’t be done, I’ll do it. I believe in the Constitution.
